Programmes

We run the following programmes:

Maths, Science & Technology Programme

Through various projects the College assists 5730 learners annually to improve their Maths and Science results:

The MST 'Recovery' Project

This is a residential one-year course for 60 black learners who have completed grade 12 at disadvantaged schools and are given the opportunity to upgrade their Mathematics and Physical Science results at MCC. With a good learning environment and intensive expert tuition, the express aim is that students achieve the required points for tertiary studies in science-related fields of their choice.

Mobile Laboratory Project

Our six trained laboratory technicians conduct Physical Science experiments for Grade 10-12 learners at 45 rural project schools. Approximately 5670 learners are, in this way, given assistance with the Grade 10-12 Physical Science practical curriculum. 60 Physical Science educators attend workshops to upgrade their skills and familiarise themselves with the equipment and experiments.

Early Childhood Development programme

The College is involved in the establishment, training, equipping and support of some 52 ECD sites throughout the Midlands of KZN. Our facilitators train practitioners, care-givers and governing body members in communities to run effective, holistic pre-school education sites with special emphasis on building resilience in young children affected by HIV/AIDS. We raise funds for and purchase the pre-school equipment and visit the sites on regular back-up visits.
