Cooking and Catering


This 15-day unit standard based course is suitable for learners who have some cooking and catering experience and would like to improve their skills in specific areas. The course is based on the following unit standards:
  • Prepare and Cook Vegetables for Hot and Cold Dishes, ID 7808, Level 2, credits 2
  • Maintain Hygiene in Food Preparation, Cooking and Storage Areas, ID 7637, Level 3, Credits 2
  • Prepare and Cook Basic Egg Dishes, ID 7802, Level 2, credits 2
  • Prepare and Cook Basic Dough Products: ID 7766, Level 3, credits 3
  • Maintain Health, Hygiene and Professional Appearance, ID 7800, Level1, credits 1

  • Beginners’ Cooking and Catering


    This 10-day course is suitable for learners who have no experience in cooking and catering and would like to open their own businesses or work at a restaurant. Learners are taught preparation and cooking methods for various vegetable, fish and meat dishes as well as a variety of biscuits, cakes, and pastries. Kitchen hygiene, safety procedure, waitressing, and table setting are included in the course.
